Bath is the only city in the UK to be a designated World Heritage Site in its entirety. In 1987, the city was listed  by UNESCO as a cultural site with outstanding universal value and cultural significance, due to its Roman remains, hot springs, eighteenth-century architecture, eighteenth-century town planning, social setting and landscape setting. 

In 2021, Bath received an exceptional second UNESCO listing as part of the Great Spa Towns of Europe. Bath is well known for its Roman Baths, Royal Crescent and Georgian architecture. Less well known is the fact that Bath and North East Somerset is home to some amazing businesses, often global leaders in their field. Forging connections and fostering collaboration is aided by Bath’s human scale and the wider region affords even more possibilities for partnerships and innovation.

Bath is beautifully green, with numerous parks and gardens, play areas and open spaces including Royal Victoria Park. The city offers plenty of enjoyable outdoor activities and is surrounded by magnificent countryside and interesting places. Stonehenge, Salisbury, Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Oxford and Bristol are all within easy reach of Bath.

Bath’s exceptional food and drink scene has gained the city a reputation as a delicious foodie destination. There are over 150 restaurants, cafés and traditional pubs set within a great range of shops – from high street stores to small specialist shops.
