In 2022, the University and SU declared a climate emergency and developed a framework with 11 principles and corresponding actions, setting out our commitment to tackle climate change.
We take a joined-up approach across the University in our response to climate change, with key actions under the themes of:
- Education – delivering education that empowers students to become future leaders and innovators in our response to the climate crisis
- Research – enabling the transition to a low carbon future and delivering climate adaptation solutions
- Footprint – tackling our own carbon footprint through technical solutions, student and staff engagement initiatives, and working with our supply chain as we transition to a net-zero carbon campus
- Partnerships – working with schools, the local community and other organisations to address the climate crisis
Find out more about what we're doing across these four themes.
We have a dedicated Climate Action Team, who are helping the University to deliver a whole institution response to fight the climate emergency, within a community of driven staff members and students all seeking to drive transformational change.
We take our commitments seriously and report annually on our progress to ensure we are delivering on our goals.
